Brie fought through most of the match, landing a missile dropkick on Henley and nearly locking in the Yes Lock before Henley reached the ropes. But Jacy Jayne's presence at ringside tipped the balance - a distraction at the barricade separated Brie from the action long enough for the challengers to isolate Paige and finish the job.

If one moment defined the night's local flavor, it was this one. Danhausen's ongoing bit about "uncursing" the Knicks - which the team's fans credit, half-jokingly, for their first championship in 53 years - collided directly with his in-ring career.

Dominik Mysterio spent much of the No Disqualification match interfering on JD McDonagh's behalf, at one point using Danhausen's stolen Knicks jersey to wipe his shoes - a cheap heat spot that landed exactly as intended with the MSG crowd. McDonagh controlled long stretches of the match, working over Danhausen at ringside and countering a brainbuster attempt for a near-fall.

Then the cavalry arrived. Karl-Anthony Towns entered the ring and chokeslammed both McDonagh and Mysterio, sending Dom through a table in the process, before Danhausen finished McDonagh with the Triple D for the win. It was, by design, more spectacle than wrestling clinic - a rare case where an NBA All-Star's presence outshines the actual match. Not every fan wants that trade-off, but it's hard to argue the moment didn't land with the room.

Analysts covering the show noted that despite the win, WWE seems unlikely to push Danhausen into a heavier in-ring role going forward, favoring the character-driven, backstage-heavy formula that has worked for him so far. That's probably the right read - the appeal here was theater, not a push.

Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria: A Friendship Ends for Good

Their story had been building for weeks, and MSG delivered the breakup. Lyra Valkyria defeated Bayley via technical submission, closing out a rivalry that started as mentorship and curdled into resentment.

Valkyria pushed through a visibly ugly nose injury early in the match to secure the win, and she didn't stop once the bell rang. Post-match, she locked Bayley in the Bully Choke on the outside and drove her through the steel steps with a Nightwing, leaving her former mentor laid out in front of a stunned MSG crowd. It's a definitive, borderline brutal way to close a chapter - and it strongly suggests Valkyria's heel turn is built to last past SummerSlam, not just this feud.

Grade: B. Physical, emotionally coherent, and a finish violent enough to make the story feel finished rather than paused.

Roman Reigns, Jalen Brunson, and a SummerSlam Gut-Punch

The show's true main event, structurally speaking, wasn't a match at all. Roman Reigns walked to the ring alongside Jalen Brunson, telling the Knicks captain that New York was WWE's home and that big names recognize other big names, before presenting him with a custom, Knicks-colored version of the World Heavyweight Championship.

It was a celebration until it wasn't. Seth Rollins' music interrupted the segment, but it was Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton who appeared first, carrying a steel chair as a distraction while Rollins snuck in and attacked Reigns from behind. Rollins set the chair up in the ring and went for the Stomp - but Brunson stepped directly in front of Reigns to block it, giving the champion the opening to fire back with a Superman Punch and a Spear.

The show closed with Reigns and Brunson posing together, title belts and NBA championship trophy in hand, while Rollins retreated up the ramp with Haliburton. With SummerSlam only two weeks away, this was a clean, effective way to add one final layer of tension to Reigns-Rollins without touching the actual in-ring product.

Key takeaway: SNME 44 wasn't just a nostalgia play for MSG's history - it moved four separate stories forward in one night, and every one of them now points directly at SummerSlam.
